'Twas early in the year '98,
both were alone, awaiting their fate
of love, of romance, of hearts' desire,
both had been seared by passion's hot fire.
Then one day, just on a lark,
GoodMan visited the City Park.
(He used a computer, on IRC,
and found the right channel, where his Nettie did be.)
They met, and they talked, and did write back and forth.
It wasn't too long before Nettie went north
to visit her GoodMan to see face to face.
When she got there, she said, "Gee, I like this place!"
And he visited her, met her friends and family.
Though most of them liked him, some said, "We shall see."
But everyone saw how happy they were,
and though it was soon, GoodMan was sure.
He asked her to marry him, to make their love last,
and she answered so quick and she answered so fast.
That Nettie said, "YES!" and then GoodMan knew
that this one was right, this love was true.
They did marry, and flew to Las Vegas
(where many buffets seemed filled with cold Haggis).
A few friends did come (to make sure it would take).
It hardly mattered at all that they got the wrong cake.
And just where are they now, I hear you inquire?
They still visit the Park, where their love did catch fire.
Nettie and GoodMan are happy, you see,
and it started in BBWCity Park, on IRC.
