When I discovered the world of BBWs on the Internet, I had just gotten my computer and was surfing through the terrific BBW stuff I was finding there, feeling for the first time like I wasn't alone in the things I experienced as a large person in this society.
I came across Hank's Gab Cafe, which is a great place for you to just leave some "gab" about your thoughts and life in general. It wasn't exactly a place for personal ads, but the notion to write one and leave it was in my head...however, my hands were shaking and it took me 30 minutes to think of what to say and submit it. It was a very simple ad, asking for a "real gentleman" who admired BBWs.
The next day, I received an e-mail that was short and to the point. James introduced himself, gave a brief physical description, and, since he lived over 350 miles away, asked if I cared to do the "e-mail" thing. And for some reason, which I cannot explain in words to this day, I thought, "yes, I think we should". That was on April 9, 1996.
After a couple of weeks of e-mail, he sent me his phone number, and, shaking again, I called him...and then he called me...and we spent hours on the phone every day laughing and talking, sharing our dreams, our pasts, our hopes ...and our growing love for each other. We met a couple of weeks later in person and have been inseperable ever since...he drove every weekend from Boston, where he lived and worked, to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to be with me, and now soon, he is going to be with me forever...we are planning our wedding for October of this year.
I have loved this man all my life...I finally found him in April...and he feels the same about me. He is everything I wanted and everything I admire... We both went through some very rough times before we met each other, but we think that it has enabled us to see just how special what we have really is...we appreciate it so much more and will never take it for granted. He is my best friend and he will soon be my husband...and I am happier now that I have ever been in my life!
